I am sitting down right now and writing my first Medium article. I have been reading essays, articles, and fresh perspectives through Medium for some time now. Thank you, to all the writers who offer a bit of themselves on this platform. It is a great space to share and express. I am a person who believes strongly in the fruits of a daily practice. I have witnessed growth in myself through a daily yoga, meditation, and music practice. I am hoping to add to that personal growth through writing. I want to use this space to cultivate that daily writing practice.

So, here is my First Article.

Writing a short article about publishing my first article within the contents of this, my first article is very Meta. It is also a representation.

It represents the start of something.

I have long awaited to publish any material online. If you are reading this and are any bit like me I hope you can find some inspiration through the start of this journey. I have been a long-time consumer of content online. I read and read doing my best to learn what I can. I maintain this pattern of consumption often without contributing.

I have a bit of a complex about openly sharing myself through my creative content. My creative expression is a source of therapy for myself, particularly through writing and music. I must believe somewhere that by sharing my content I diminish its intrinsic value. Stepping back to look at this belief allows me to see the misguided anxiety that is ultimately holding me back from giving.

Writing this article is helping to release that belief. And, in the spirit of writing my first article, I want to celebrate the joy of taking my first step and giving through expressing myself.

In that context, this first article is also a celebration. A celebration of a journey and a chance to share my perspective with anyone reading this. I truly believe in the impact, albeit how small it may be, we bring to each other through sharing our perspectives and experiences. I see now that we need to see and hear each other.

The world is being filled with noise emanating from destructive sources. Division is a common mindset among groups of people. We need to challenge that mindset. We need to share ourselves in ways that promote communication and community.

If you are reading this with a similar outlook, and hopes and dreams, let’s take this time to celebrate writing and also acknowledge what can be accomplished through it. We all have a unique perspective and a voice that brings that perspective to light. Let’s celebrate that…with a dose of humility.
